Subject: Should i go big or fast?
IP: Logged

Message:
Ok, i am really debating whether to go big or fast. About a month ago i was for sure going big with a 3" lift, but now after reading these boards for about a month, i really don't know what to do. I have a 2X4 and most people say if its 4X4 go big, if its 2X4 go fast. I really like the look of a big truck, but at the same time i always wish i could keep up with those damn fast cars. Maybe some of you guys could convince me of which way i should go. Please help!!

Hey, even though you guys didn't answer me, i thought i would tell you anyways. The guys on the performance board convinced me to go fast, so i'll be putting my first engine mod in next weekend.

I think i'm going to start with an intake system, and then start saving for headers.

Go fast man. Leave big to the 4x4's. Don't try to be something you aren't. I'm running a Dakota 4x2 Sport, and am working on making it fast. Not sure what to do first.

sic,
you can do that, but you won't be as fast... look at bernd's old website. he was only running like low 16s with the big and jacked up dak. And that was with the 100 shot of juice.

Big and fast? That's what I'm doin! Have 3" body with 33" swampers... That's good with height. Workin on some engine mods now. I'm gonna buy smaller tires so i can just swap em when i wanna go lil faster. Well, prolly a good amount faster. It's gonna be sweet.

Guys guys guys, let us focus here. Do you want to go BIG or go fast. By jacking up a 4x2 you are out of your league in both worlds. You don't have the hardware to run with the 4 by's and you haven't got the dynamics for speed.

they arnt saying they wanna sup their truck up to beat john force or to take their truck to the track every weekend... but they are saying they want to be able to leave the average (or perhaps a little better than average) car in the dust... or that's what I get out of what you guys are saying you want to do...
