Subject: Crank Sensor IP: Logged
Message: I'm interested in the crank sensor/timing mod. I have a Superchips programmer and programmed my truck with the performance profile. Just wondering if these two things combined would be too much timing advance? One other question, how light tan should the spark plugs be? Mine are dark brown almost black on Autolite 3923's.

Message: pick up the haynes manual. It's about $15 and the inside back cover has nice pictures of what the plugs look like under various conditions.
I just changed my plugs yesterday, 2nd time I've used the autolights (AP3924 as I'm still running pretty much stock).

Message: There are some running the superchips and the
sensor mod if you get any piston ping try a colder
thermostat or 1 grade higher gas or back of until
the ping goes away
The plugs what did you gap them at you can tune
them in with the gap. stock ign upto .045 try
going up or down .003 a dark tan is just a little
to cold but tells me you are very close

Message: Sorry Larry I got excited trying to post a pic have to put it up on my webpage. I have them gapped @ .045 can't find a gauge that goes any higher. I hear gapping @ .06 works good.

Message: I need some more input surely somebody has had this problem. I'll try the plug gapping just worried that it might be running too rich.

Message: I think unless I'm wrong here that you can only gap your plugs to .060" if you have the blaster coil and the platinum plugs... The multi spark discharge alone won't allow you to gap the plugs that wide, but it does sound like you need to open your gap up just a touch, but then again plugs are very tricky and you may have to close them down .005"...
