Subject: Bypass A/C with new belt IP: Logged
Message: Well, if anybody has read my previous post about my junky 17.7 times...I was looking for a way to improve it. I see the belt diagram on the truck, and it says no a/c. Seems relatively simple to do, I was just wondering if it would throw any error codes.
I want to take my belt off, and replace with a no a/c belt (shorter length), to totally bypass my a/c. Thus it should (in my mind) provide more hp and better gas mileage.
Will it hurt anything to do this, just for a couple runs at the track?
Will I gain any noticeable improvements?
Are there any other suggestions that you could make to cut my times down. I've been driving through the water at the start, maybe I won't this time.

then You will NOT see any difference whatsoever.
It is only an idler pulley when OFF..

Message: ? is right. if the a/c isn't on, it's just like another idler pulley. if you still wanted to, i couldn't see it throwing a could or hurting anything. try a crank pulley.
