Subject: 2.5" or 3"?? IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys and girl! I need help! My Dak is going into the muffler shop on Thursday. Im getting a Flowmaster 40 series muffler put on with single in, dual out ports. Here's my query: the guy at the shop told me that if I wanted to put on 3" pipes from the muffler back, which i do, that it wouldnt help my performance any since the kitty and the y-pipe are the standard 2.5" anyways, but i really wanted to put the 3" pipe on from the kitty back. Will adding 3" pipe do anything for me? Both tails are getting 3.5" stainless tips, so you wont be able to see the pipes anyways. Please help me out...i really need to know by Thursday! Thanks!

Message: actually your y-pipe should be smaller than 2.5...
if it is have the man build you up a 2.5 y-pipe and have it go into a 3 inch pipe and have the pipes after the muffler be 2.5 inches. two 3 inch pipes after the muff wouldn't do you much good because you have a sixer. now if you don't have a 3" cat or muffler opening...just stick to 2.5 all the way around.
