Message: I have a 94 Dakota Sport, V6 5 speed, and the rearend went out, it had a 3.21 ratio, and I replaced it with one from a 95 that had a V8, and the ratio I think is 3.92, it also had 10" drums, the old one had 9". Anyway, my speedo seems to be way off, what do I need to do to get it back to reading the correct speed?

Message: You have 2 options
Buy a calibrating unit from KRC or Fastman Dan
for around $150 $200
Or
Go to a dealer and have them flash the comp for
the new gear ratio, $75 to $120
I bet its a lot quicker off the line with the 3.91
gears hope its a sure grip so you can smoke both
tires LOL
Your speedo will be about 5 to 7 mph off reading
faster than you are actualy going

Message: Thanks for the quick reply, I guess I'll go with the Dodge dealer. And yes it is much faster off the line and as far as the mph, I'm not sure how far it is off, but my ride home from work is around 35 miles and now cause of the change, it's gone up to 50 miles on the odometer.
If anyone is looking for one of these rearends, I got lucky and found this boneyard that has 5 95' Dakota's, they got from Argonne Labs in the Chicago area, with only 7 miles on them. All the engines are gone, but the rearends are still there, along with much of the bodies. The rearends are pretty much brand new, the oil inside was clean, even the brake pads had no wear on them.
