Subject: Slow Maryland 1/4 times IP: Logged
Message: Went to Cecil County Dragway in maryland, going to Capitol probably this friday. My truck is a 2002 3.9 CC 4x4 silver dak 5spd 3.55 gears. Mods: Modded intake manifold, 50mm tb, 1" tb spacer, jet stage 2, homebrew CAI, 40 series flowmaster, IAT Relocated.
Truck was misfiring still, I changed to bosch +4 plugs after the track. Overall, had a good time...was second slowest thing at the track. I could've taken a ford ranger with exhaust, but he ran 18.8. I had 3/4 tank of gas, spare tire, everything else...running 93 octane gas because of jet stage 2. Castrol synthetic oil, and just changed my radiator fluid. I went in hoping to break the 16's...maybe 16.9, but no such luck.
My timeslips are at my other house in baltimore. 60' times were around 2.6-2.8
Estimated times:
1st run: 18.1 @ 59mph (missed 2nd gear twice)
2nd run: 17.6 @ 76.04mph (best run)
3rd run: 17.8 @ 76.06mph
4th run: 17.7 @ 75.9 mph
5th run: 17.9 @ 76.08 mph
With all my mods, I was expecting to run faster, but I was misfiring on cylinder 1. Check engine light came on around 3rd run. I took off my entire intake (including airhat), to get better times...but didn't work out that way. I was talking to a guy who had a 10 second pro-street mustang, and he said I need to get my 60' times down. I didn't get to talk to him again, so I don't know what I could do to get them down. A couple of the starts were bad (dropping clutch around 4400 rpm instead of 3k) it's an adrenaline rush when you get to the line. I raced my friends v6 mustang 3 times, and the other 2 races were against 10-12 second cars.
Is there anything else I can do that might bring me down to the 16's? Then I could at least look decent. And everybody that heard my dak thought it was a 4.7 because it just sounds badass. And when I spun tires through the water there was smoke some times, and I would sit there and spin, then go sideways and it would grab. So yea it was cool.
I'll probably go to capitol this friday if anybody else is interested in going. I heard they had a messed up timing light last friday, so I'm glad I went to cecil county.
-Slow4x4Dak (I knew it was slow, but not that slow)

Message: You need to find that misfire problem !
Have you done the ' spark timing ' mod yet ?
Then your jetstage might be able to do something.
Also 89 octane should be enough..

Message: I would say get a Big Bottle or A Turbo kit. I used to have a RC dak I knew that it was not very fast but I was pretty sure it was faster than that.

first throw away that 1" tb spacer, it doesn't work on our setup, our engines are bottom feeders, leave the spacers to the F body crowd
supercharge or nitrous, anything else is a waste of your time and money, bigger gears 3.9s would help too

Message: Damn that's fast...14.4 is what my friends stock v6 bmw ran. I saw 2 s10's with v8's dropped in them, and 1 gmc sonoma which ran 16's. There was a 10 second diesel truck, and a 13 second diesel truck (both f150's). A 4.7 dakota ran 15.8, and I saw an R/T run 14.7. Other than that there were about 100 srt-4's running 13's.
