Subject: A/C repair IP: Logged
Message: I finally made it to a shop to check my A/C system. The total bill will be around 1,000. I'm looking to save money and do at least some of the work myself. the system is evacuated. They say i need a new compressor/cluth, accululator and 2lbs of r.134. They say i may need a new condensor - they advise to recheck the system after work has been done.
the system is currently evacuated. I've read some of the posts on here as well as the haynes manual. the compressor / clutch seems easy to replace. They are 250-350 depending on new or remanufactured. I'm looking at remanufacturered since they warranty is the same.
How easy / hard is it to replace the accululator? Condensor?
the recharge of the system is simple and can be done most anywhere.
thanks in advance

Message: Condenser is at the radiator, easy to replace.Acumalator bolts right in and you probably need to replace the orfice for the warranty.Follow the instructions with the compressor and the Haynes manuel. The main thing is pull a good vacumn before adding oil and recharging. Do not overcharge. You can replace all the parts and take it to a shop if you don't have a vacumn pump.
