Subject: Upper control arm bushing kit? IP: Logged
Message: The bushings on my upper control arms are cracking and squeaking. The dealership says they dont sell just the bushing kits(new control arm only). Some places have the kit listed for a 2001 Dakota v6, but it comes up obsolite. Does anyone know of a place that sells aftermarket kits for this?

Message: 97 2wd Energy Suspension Kit install: Well I got the whole kit
upper and lower, after replacing the top bushings I thought things
were looking up...half way done... then I finally got the lower
bushings extracted from the lower arm and began tapping in the
new shells for the bushings and then it started.........yep it stopped
about 1/4" before being seated. I tried pressing it in using a vise
and it looked like it was flexing the arm so that stopped, then a
plastic dead blow hammer (which I got pretty aggressive with) and
still no JOY!! Right now the shells are in the freezer (trying a little
physics). If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

Message: I got it all back together using a piece of all thread stock, piece of 1
1/4" pipe and some large washers (Mechanical Press). It still tried
to bind when pressing and I had to put spacers on the unsupported
sides to prevent them from being pressed together. Thanks for the
help!!!

Where did you get it and how much did you pay?
Was it worth it?

Message: It is an improvement over the stock rubber, it was pretty cheap, I
picked mine up at Autozone. But be prepared for a couple of days
working on it. I did each side in a day each, about 8 hours each. I
am still trying to get an alignment done however it feels pretty
straight, I have some wheel bearings to replace then I should be
done with any front suspension work for a while. I'll post again
when all complete and let you know if there is an improvement.
Check the Autozone website for their Energy Suspension Bushing
kit (Polyurethane of course),

Message: I just replaced my upper control arm bushings. Dodge has a TSB out stating that it is not necessary to replace the control arms and that a special tool is required to remove and re-install them. Made a HUGE difference in my 99!

Message: I need to know the size tap you would use to re-tap the upper control arm for a 94 Dakota Sport. The threads stripped out during removal of the upper ball joint. Can anyone help me please? Thank you
