Subject: self reving engine??? IP: Logged
Message: I don't know what the hell is going on, when I rev the engine and take my foot off the pedal, the rpm still remains at around 2500 to 3000 rpm and very slowly returns to idle. I have lost so much damn horsepower. Any thoughts would help.

Message: check the easy things first such as the throttle cable, butterfly valves for smooth operation, intake boot for air leak, IAC sensor and others.

Message: Remove and clean IAC back of throttle body spray
with carb cleaner also seat in body,
Check your TPS drivers side of TB center wire and
good ground key on engine not running should start
around .35 to .75 go up when opened and always
drop back to low volts whenthrottle is closed if
it hangs up even just a little it will cause this
to happen
The power lose may be a bad o2 sensor or pluged
cat free scan at auto zone will find the bad o2

Message: I looked at mine again and the IAC seems to be hanging up. Mike, did you use a lubricant/cleaner when you sprayed, because you might have freed up a sticking IAC. Is the plunger supposed to return all the way when you close the throttle?
