I have owned my 2000 SLT since new and it never used to run above the peak thermostat value. For some reason this summer its been running hot all the time. Our weather hasnt been that warm either. It has fresh Mobil 1 Synthetic, fresh coolant, brand new 180 T-stat from Napa, K&N filter, but the rest is totally stock. The truck has been running right around 210 all the time. Any ideas guys?

that's actually not bad. is your electric fan working? check the clutch fan also for play.
loosing any coolant? a leak in the system will make it run hotter than usual. have you ever flushed the system? any debris in the a/c condenser or radiator blocking airflow?

slimy grimy radiator will cause that, check your
electric axsilary fan and your clutch fan
operation and maybe get the system back flushed

free scan at auto zone maybe running ok but guage
sender is bad, a scan will read the engine temp
sensor and see what it reads for temp

one more thing can cause that, a high mineral water will have enough disolved metals in the water that it will, over time, erode the vane in the water pump. Sometimes it will erode them in as little as 30,000 miles. Usually this comes from well water but not always.

I'm thinking that my coolant isnt flowing as well as it should I think I found a little coolant puddle this morning, right under the radiator. My only question is weather or not it was there already. I found it in my parking lot so it could've been there from someone else too. How much does a shop usually charge for a coolant system flush?

Where would the fan be that cools off my radiator in my 98 Dakota Sport? I'm having the same problems with mine, getting hot but not overheating all the way. I'm thinking its the fan. Thanks so much!!

its between the radiator and the engine, a "puller" type. don't mess with it unless you are very sure of what you are doing as it could start at any time and cut your hands SEVERLY or get your clothing wraped up and pull you in and turn you into hamburger. look at your temp gage when driving down the road, if it is about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch to the left of 210 you are ok if it is really close or to the right get it to a radiator shop. you can find them in the yellow pages under auto repair or even sometimes under radiator.

Is there a instruction booklet that tells you how to replace the blower motor. Step by step. Or is there anyone out there that has replaced their blower motor that can tell me? This is on a dakota 1992
