Subject: Stumbling at the light IP: Logged
Message: '96 3.9 Auto. Stumbles at the light - then drives fine. Took it out on the freeway last night and drove 80 with the o/d off. Could feel slight hesitation occasionally. Recent plugs and injector cleaner. Trying to stay away for the dealer. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Message: Thanks for the response. I also suspected the 02 but it's only about a year old. I'll check your link and test it. No regular filter on the '96 3.9 - only a strainer on the pump which is in the fuel tank. Major pain in the butt.

Message: Carl, Try the TPS mod, set it up to about .75 volts and go from there. This mod can really help low end stumble. How long has it been since a air filter change, you might want to go to an after market cold air intake or make your own, or if you have the round black 14in air cleaner, try the K and N drop in.

Did you ' index ' them ?
opening up towards intake
between 10 and 2 or better
11 and 1 = best
Gap .045 approx. - anything less cause problems
on mine..

Message: FOUND THE PROBLEM!!! Unplugged the harness for the after cat o2 sensor and she runs better than ever. Of course, I my check engine light is on and I get the "21" code - "o2 sensor circuit" (according to Hayes). I'll replace the downstream o2 sensor tomorrow and let you know what happens. Thanks to all for the help.
