Subject: small mod power IP: Logged
Message: im looking to get a little more power out of my 98 v6 dakota and dont really know what to do, i was planning on a cold air intake then relocating the AIT into it, also drill out the TPS for better throttle response and then putting a stock v8 tb on it and a 180 degree T-stat. Are performance pcm's available or are chips anyhting worth spending the money on and were would i find the pcm/chip. What intake do you recommend and will the v8 tb really cause tq loss. any help appreciated. thanks
ps: i already have a flowmaster muffler but i didnt reset the pcm, should i?

Message: first, build an alter to the gear gods. next, put the gears from your truck on the altar and beg for the 4.10s. then, if the gods like you, they will magically transform the stock gears into 4.10s and viola, you've got your gears.

Message: all of what you listed should help, but if you have the money i would say get an aftermarket 46 or 48 mm TB. the V8 TB will work though. you can make your own intake out of PVC pipe and buy a K&N to put on it, or you could also buy the K&N FIPK (fuel injection performance kit) for about $250 and fit it on there. i believe one for a v8 (5.2, 5.9) can be made to fit since i can't remember if they make it for v6's. as for the PCM, you can get a mopar PCM and swap it out, not sure how much it costs. i've heard alot of people like the Superchips tuner also, you don't have to replace your stock computer and you can set it for when and what you want it to do, then go back to stock settings when needed. and for the flowmaster, you can just drive normally and the computer will learn as you drive so don't worry about resetting. for the gears, the 4.10 will make the biggest difference of any mod you do. i do some towing so i'm going to opt for the 3.92 but 4.10 will be fine. hope this helped.
