Subject: Engine rpm's-Larry? IP: Logged
Message: Hey Larry, I'm glad that you're back. My engine seems to over-rev when I hit the throttle briefly. It only happens when the engine is warm and in Park or Neutral. I just touch the throttle and it revs to 2500 rpm for about 5 or 10 seconds, then dies back down to idle. You recommended to me that my TPS may be too tight, but it's fine. I did the belly pan gasket vacuum/pressure test and the gasket is fine. I'm running out of ideas. Thanks. Relf.

Message: First check the TPS with a volt meter and be sure
it always returns to low volts after throttle is
opened and closed key on engine not running losen
the bolts a little I have seen that happen many
times
Remove and clean your IAC idle air control back of
TB depending on year either #20 or #25 torx bit
spray off with carb cleaner and the seat it sits
in but do not force the pluger or try to twist it
gental cleaning
OBD1 TPS max 1.2 closed throttle
OBD2 TPS max .88 .9 closed throttle
If you pass this threshold it will also do what
you are describing
