Subject: Starter Removal IP: Logged
Message: Hey people, haven't been here in about a year and I have good reason to come back. I would like some advice. I'm 99% sure that I have to change the starter in my 2000 Dak V6 because it has 3 second gaps inbetween starter revolutions and the battery it good. That being the case how hard and what is involved in changing the sucker out. I am moving out of the dorms here because summer school for me is over thurday....I am intent on being out of here thursday night or friday sometime. Help.......please.

Message: Sounds like either a bad battery or your battery terminals are dirty. Did you actually have the battery tested and throughly clean your connections to the battery, check your cables, perhaps a grounding problem? Your truck is only four years old, starters usually don't go out before the battery does, plus in the starters I've replaced they either work or don't work. None of this slow turning stuff, but hey, thats one man's opinion.

Message: the last time I saw a vehicle (not a dodge) with this problem the positive battery cable to the starter was damaged and not getting enough power to the starter.

Message: Thank you. As soon as I get out of class I am going to get my roomate to give me a jump start and hopefully that works. I called my boss who is a mechanic and he said check the battery even though it is showing that it has power and the lights aren't dim. Also that is jump starting it doesn't tap the starter with a hammer. I shall see what happens. Thank you again.
