Subject: How long.... IP: Logged
Message: How long should the Air Conditioning system on my 99 Dakota last before I have to get it recharged.
My 99 Dakota sometimes blows cold air when I have the A/C turned on, other times it is only cool.
When I am sitting at a stop light or stopped anywhere's, I can here what sounds like one of the pulleys clicking on and off repeatedly.
Does this mean I am low on A/C refrigerant?
Thanks.

Message: It could be low on refrigerant, the air temperature coming out of the vents should be between 40 and 45 degress cooler tha ouside air temperature. If ouside air temp is 90 degrees, max air temperature should be 48 degrees, if outsied temp is 100 air temp out of a/c vent should be 55 degrees. Get a cheap thermometer and check vent temps, if too high, take to a shop for servicing or you can do yourself in some states if you know what your doing. Follow all safety precautions if you decide to do it yourself and leagal in your state.
