I'm losing about a quart of oil every thousand miles, maybe more. Thare are no leaks. Also a lot of spark knock. I looked down through the throttle body and I see no oil at all. It's completely dry. Could it be something else besides a blown belly pan gasket???

Thanks, Aaron

What year is your truck, how many miles? How do the end of your spark plugs look when you pull them out (look at all the plugs, not just one)?

2000, just under 60,000 miles. I'll have to check the plugs. I changed them about 1500 miles ago. They didn't have oil on them.
I saw another way to check for a blown belly pan gasket. I'll have to do a search.

I had the same thing happen on a 92 Dak 318, it would use a quart of oil every 1000 miles and I would get pinging under heavy loads. Thake the air cleaner off the throttle body and open up the throttle plates and look down into the intake with a flashlight, you will see oil build up in the intake plenum if its leaking. This is one way to check it. Also look here:

If your going to do the work your self or have some help you, consider port matching the intake manifold to the heads, look here:
