Message: Any codes -=- you may need to get it scanned
at Autozone or similar !
With no muffler - your O2 sensors may not be able
to work properly , or at least not for long?!
How long has muffler been removed ?

Message: Just thinking up other items.
Could his Cat Conv have broken up and fallen, plugging the exhaust pipe? Could it be an outflow problem and not an inflow engine problem? What if it can't push the exhaust out?
I don't know much about cars and truck so I appologize if that sounds stupid.

Message: Hey Man, If you got high mileage your timing chaing may need a look at. A lot of time people confuse that lack of power as a fuel problem. A lot of times it'll turn out your engine is backfiring, take a look at your intake and see if it's all black.
