Message: when i took mine off my black truck (after it was over a year old) i just hit the area with some mequiers pain cleaner and followed with polish and wax. you just have to make sure you get all traces of the adhesive off as it will leave an outline.

Message: Goo Gone, Desolv-it or any other citrus cleaner will remove the glue left over...Just wash and wax afterwards.
Also, Using a hair dryer and getting the decals hot will cause less glue to remain on the paint.
