Subject: big tires-clearance problems!
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 88 dakota 4x4. i bought new rims and tires. Tire size=15x10.5. When I turn the tires rub in the wheel wels really bad. I dont want to put a lift kit on it- costs too much. Is there anything i can do cheaply to fix my problem??. I new the tires were oversize because my old tires were the same size but bald and didnt rub. I dont want to get smaller tires because these look GREAT.

the cheapest thing is probably to get some wheel spacers which should run less than $100. but they say you shouldn't use them for offroading.

Ed is correct you shouldn't use them offroading... The best thing to do is to do a 3" body lift it costs under $200 and looks awsome on the Dakotas.

What size Tires are they? I understand the wheels could be 15x10.5 but shouldn't the tires be.. 33x12.5x15 or something?

They are probably 30x10.50x15s or something near that. I think Gen I 4x4s can run a 2in body and clear a 31x10.50. So his are probably 28-30 inches. Just a guess.
Go with the 2in body lift. They do help with tire clearence and look good as well.
