Hey,

I've got the same job in mind, but I need to
know an easy way to take off the lower plastic
bumper valance. I think with that off, this job
will be a lot easier.
Anyone with the skills?

I'm trying to do the same job. I've got a Stillen billet grill for the lower valance that doesn't work on 2000 and later Dak's. Take off 4 bolts accessed from inside the bumper and remove three push clip screws on each front fenderwell, and the lower valance will come off. On mine, with the three vertical bars on the valance, these will have to be cut off with hacksaw blade or something similar. This is no big deal, because the Stillen bumper cover goes over top of the cut-off bars, and you can't see them. Then you still have to rig up some brackets to attach the grille to the upper bumper and lower valance, and make sure it's centered and level. It'll take some time, so if anyone has some ideas for brackets, I could sure use some ideas!

I was told the best way to remove it was to take the bumper off with it. 8 bolts i believe.
PS what mesh are you guys using? and tell me how it goes. Im waiting till it gets warmer up here (Toronto) before i attempt it.

I've got a 2001 CC. The grills I'm installing are
the horzontal billet bars by T-Rex. Actually I've
already put in the top and it looks very nice! I've
had the lower grill insert for awhile now but
haven't had time to put it on yet. After poking
around with a flashlight and my fingers it looks
like the easiest way would be to just take the
whole bumper off! Damn!

It is very easy to take the bumper off.
I hope I dont skip a step , is been a week.
1: Unplug driveing lights

2: 8 bolts(total) 4 top , 4 bottom each side of truck.

3: Pull bumper forward and down.

4: Find something about 10" high to rotate the bumber on to. Now you should be able to get to the bottom valance from behind.

Hope this helps

Ive finally bought the materials needed to to make the grille. I purchased them at home depot for about 5 bucks a sheet (x5)(Canadian). Premium Gutter Guard, and the hood latch relocator that im making. I decided to buy some clear coat and paint them.

PS. i was thinking if i used some heavy duty glue if that would hold the lower valance on?
Any suggestions?

the Stull company makes a nice set of stainless grill inserts, that mount real easy. Ken, ( see his post about two up) and I both have them. He helped me install them, per his instructions, about two posts up.
