Subject: Billet Aluminum Fuel Door Update IP: Logged
Message: I have some good news for everybody... After doing even more research about these fuel doors, I managed to snag a better price break than originally offered.
Billet Aluminum Fuel Doors are available for the following vehicles through this group buy:
PT Cruiser
Dodge Dakota
Dodge Ram
Ford F-Series
Ford Mustang (2000 only?)
Ford Expedition
Mercedes M-Class
Chevy Avalanche
Chevy/GMC Silverado
Chevy/GMC Sierra
The billet fuel doors are made by AMP Research (www.amp-research.com), and have a satin ("brushed") finish. No modifications to your vehicles are required - they use the factory mounting locations of your existing fuel doors.
I can now offer one of these for -$105 includes shipping- through this one-time group buy. www.autotoyaz.com wants $220 plus shiping for these 'on sale'! Minimum quantity also no longer matters.
Contact me at SinCityRT@dakota-durango.com if you're interested in one of these fuel doors. (PS - Those of you who already ordered one at the previously stated price will be receiving a refund for the difference)

Message: If the look is what you're after, check out the billet-style cover from Steel Horse. Same style and it sells for about $90!

Message: AMP Research is the company which makes the fuel door which is sold by Steel Horse Automotive - they use them as their retail site instead of having to deal with all of the hassles of dealing with individual retail sales on a full-time basis.
Buying direct from the manufacturer's website costs $145. We're getting these for $95 plus shipping/handling. I spoke with one of the head honchos directly at the manufacturer - there's absolutely no way to get them any cheaper than we are unless we buy in enormous quantities.
If you know of a retail site which sells these for $90 on a regular basis, I'd be all ears to work with them - the lowest price I found on the web after 3 hours of scouring google for Steel Horse Automotive retailers was $159.99 if we bought in bulk.

Message: I'm not sure if its a misprint, but the new JC Whitney catalog (Feb. 657N-12) catalog has that same gas cover listed for ford vehicles for $89.95. I don't know if it would be more for a dodge or not.

Unless they are having a sale in the catalog, might be either a misprint or a different manufacturer.

Message: Another example of the fun laws of supply and demand - there's probably a dozen manufacturers of Mustang billet covers, primarly because Ford had one on a couple of special models, so more people have wanted them for longer than the Dakotas.
I've done some pretty extensive web searching, and to this day I still haven't found any other manufacturers who make a billet cover for Dakotas at all - AMP is the only company that makes them, and they sell them through Steel Horse Automotive. You can't get them any cheaper than $145 online, and that's direct from the manufacturer. We're getting them for a pretty healthy chunk of change less than that.
