Hey everyone. I just purchased a set of 16x8
wheels. Is it possible to put tires on them that
are wider than eight inches? My brother goes
to school with this kid that said he did this on
his vehicle. It would be appreciated if anyone
could reply to this message. Thank you.

Chris

Depending on the tire.
If there is enough sidewall to allow the tire to squezze into the rim.
It would be easier to put A smaller tire on A wider rim than A larger tire on A narrow rim.

The tread width should be equal to the rim
width for greatest cornering performance,
Sidewall stabilization will suffer if the tires
tread width is much greater than the wheels.
Hey, did you buy them wheels off me? There
was nothing wrong with those tyres!

When tire manuf. make tires they state what size rim width they will work on a tire such as a 215/75/15
is designed tofit a 5.5" to a 7" wide rim,a
255/65/15 tire is designed to fit a 7" to 9" rim width. For more info on what size rim a tire needs goto www.tirerack.com and as you look at the tires check specs. and it will tell you what rim widths the tire will work with. Hope this helps
