 Subject: Tell me which grill insert to buy

Dakota owners with Grill Inserts. I want to buy the Grill and Bumper inserts for my 02 Quad Cab. You guys tell me which one is the best. Also, I have the heavy duty towing group w/the oil cooler that is very close to the bumper holes. Will the bumper inserts still fit.

I made my own for almost nothing out of discarded Ram grill inserts. And I love'em.

Why should we tell you which ones to buy? Dude that is up to you, and what your taste is. I like the looks of Street Scene speed grill inserts and they will always look better than "home made" inserts. Chicken wire, guddar guard or what else they make them out of. lol I have the SS ones and they look great and do not effect the oil cooler.

MarksDCQ, those look fabulous. I've often looked at the Ram honeycomb and wondered if that could be done. Lately... I wonder how I could get one like the new Viper Ram Billet, that looks so good on a black truck.

Marks DQC, I just wanted to know if you had to modify the ram grill to fit? Also, did you have to buy a hood latch relocator? Thanks, I'm interested in saving money.

All I had to do was cut down the grill to fit the smaller Dak grill openings. The Ram grill is larger. I then made brackets that used the upper and lower DAK grill mounting screws to secure the grill. For overkill I mounted screws in the middle valley and secured the grill in the middle too. It was not too difficult.
As for the handle relocator I made my own the same way as Dakfury, http://www.chimptopia.com/pimptopia/grille.html.
(Not a power release though)
