Subject: Fog light red wire
IP: Logged

Message:
Greetings All.
I recently installed a set of Pilot fog lights
for my '97 Dak and I'm wondering where is a
good place to connect the red wire? I've
currently got it running to a fuse in the truck
and the LED light on the switch stays lit all
the time even when the truck isn't running (it's
lit right now) and that doesn't seem right. I
would connect it into the headlight switch but
there are too many wires and I don't know which
to connect to. I need something that has
power only when the ignition is on.
Thanks for the help.

From what i've been told (from dealer), Dodge doesnt use specific colored wires on there trucks. Therefore each truck is going to have diffrent colored wires on each truck. What I ended up doing is takeing the front parking light out & see what color whire those are. I then went under the dashboard & found the same wire & used a quick push-together wire clip to connect the 2 wires together.... that way your lights & button light will only be on when you turn your parking lights on.

I dunno if that was the advise you were looking for. But good luck

I pretty much did the same thing as Ben, but I just put the relay under the hood and hard wired it all together. Put the quick connector on the parking light wire to turn the relay on and give power to the fogs whenever the parking lights are on. I don't need a switch or ledlight or any extra holes in my dash to turn on fog lights.
