Subject: Line-X elsewhere... IP: Logged
Message: A friend of mine and I were sitting out admiring our trucks...and I mentioned that I hate the grey fascia (? right term ?) below the chrome bumper on the front of my truck. I was saying I had read on the forum that many people had painted theirs, but it was either a pain or not-so cost efficient. We kicked around the idea of having it sprayed with Line-X. Duller color, but it wouldn't be as shocking as that stupid grey! I think it looks totally out of place. My questions would be 1. would it look like hell? and 2. would the plastic be too flimsy to apply the Line-X to?? Of course if I did that, I would have to do the bumper inserts as well. I would like to get some opinions here before I bother going to the dealer and asking about it. Thanks!!

I agree with you... the cheap gray parts are an insult, aren't they? The SLT is the TOP TRIM LEVEL. Looks like crap!
I took off the front facsia, the bumper inserts, and I "eBay'd" a non-chrome grille, and took 'em all to the paint shop at my Dodge dealer (who better to color-match), and had everything painted. It cost $180 for everything, and they look 1000% better.
For the crowning touch, I bought a roll of 3/8" plastichrome "side molding", and applied it to the inside contours of the grille openings.
I'll send you a picture if you want.

Message: Yes the line-x will stick to the plastic, no problem. You would definitely have a unique setup! Going to have a few things line-xed myself!

Message: Thanks for the opinions!! I stopped by the Line-X shop today and asked about it. If I pull the pieces myself and hand them over, they'll seal everything front and back for $175. I like the idea of not having to worry about road gravel and the like chipping paint that low on the truck. When I scrape up the fundage, I'll send a pic to viewers rides so you all can peruse it. Thanks again!
