Is there a trick to doin it? its extremely hard to get at that c- clip. Would c-clip retainers be the way to go? or can i just yank it off?

There's a special tool used to do it. You can pick one up at any auto parts store. It looks like a wide flat piece of metal with a notch in the end. They aren't very expensive. Just be sure not to lose your clips...

Just take a "strong" wire, put a "hook" on the end... so it looks like a hanger, put the hook around the C~clip and pull... ***Watch your eyes*** I had one clip hit me in the face not to far from my eye, Be careful!!
If your careful it works like a dream!!
