Just removed the stock grill from the frame yesterday. They're not metal nibs, they're plastic. I used an air gun with a cutting disc to knock them down, then removed the grill. Once you do this, it's gone. No way to reattach, so make sure it's what you want to do the first time.

In my case, I'm putting in a Stillen grill over top of the stock one, so it was necessary.

I just pulled really hard and riped them off. It workes. After the first two or three they just pop off like a chain reaction. Just dont cut your nuckles on the grill :-)

Those of you who have replaced the grille inserts, did you remove the grille shell (the "crosshairs") from the hood?
Thanks!

Yep, used the same air gun with cutting disc to cut them out. Rough cut first, then sand them down flush so the original grill fits OK inside the new grill. On my Stillen, the only adhesive attachment points are about half of what you think it's gonna be. The original grill doesn't seat all the way down, because the Stillen is a little larger. Make sure it's sanded good so the adhesive will hold. But it's still plenty enough adhesive to do the job if it's prepped right. I was lucky in that I got ahold of a chrome grill to put inside the Stillen, without having to take mine off. (takes a while to do this) Should be able to get one at a junkyard (unless you like running around without a grill for a few days, :-)
