Subject: two much wheel gap help! drop ? IP: Logged
Message: my 2000 cc has a completely stock suspesion. I recently got 17x8 billet rims with 255-55 tires.
I have way to much gap. how come rt's don't seem to have gap is it the fender flairs? I thought they were only an inch lower.
do I need a c-notch for a 3-5inch drop. or is 2-4 inch better.
I have money situations at present do blocks increase agle rap that much? what about with some sort of suspension assist.(bunch of spring clamps or those tractionbars that mount on top of the spring they sell in jc-whitney.)

Message: No, you won't have to notch the frame on a 3/5. I had that on my '98, before going with bags, but the only thing that hit was the rear sway-bar bracket, on the rearend, on my exhaust pipe. The axle tubes never hit the frame, even on the roughest roads.
The question you need to ask is...How low do you want to go? A 2/4 is a nice drop and not that grossly expensive, but a 3/5 really is a noticable drop and will let those 17's fill out the wheel wells real nice, but just a little more cash than the 2/4.
As far as axle wrap, unless you plan on drag racing the truck, I'd stay away from the traction bars. Most companies offer universal kits, but they defeat the purpose of having traction bars in the first place. Meaning: they don't hit the leaf spring in the proper place, causing more traction problems than traction aids.

Message: do you have any pics of your truck with a 3/5 you can send me? MConiglio@fbmc-benefits.com
my exhaust won't hit it dumps before the axle. to think I was just trying to build a cheap exhaust system and now it has function.

Message: Conig, go with the 2 frnt 3 rear drop, better ride, and appearance is still aggressive. If you choose blocks in rear you must install 6 degree tapered shims to set the pinion angle correctly.
