Subject: Do they make... IP: Logged
Message: I was wondering if there is any company that
makes "rim proectors." Something that
protects the side of the rim from curbs or
anything else you may hit (so the rim doesn't
get scratched and/or dented). If anyone
knows of a place I can get these it would be
greatly appreciated if you would post it here.
Thanks in advance.

Message: Hey, I was wondering the same thing! I just ordered some nice rims, and I will only have them on the truck in the summer. I would like to keep them covered!! I wonder if there is such a thing... I'd kind of like to go to the odd show this summer, like Moparfest. My truck is my daily driver, and as well as the protection factor, I also don't want them to be a theft target.

Message: You could add some of those "curb feelers". You don't see them much these days.
They are like a thick "spiraled" wire that extend from all four corners of a vehicle. They are angled down so that when you get close to a curb, they rub and transmit the feel to the driver.
I bet they would look good on YOUR Dakota.
Oh come on..someone's got to know what I'm talking about.

Message: LOL! I know what you mean, no WAY! I was more concerned with day to day scratch protection what a great idea huh, we could patent it and sell em on ebay. Pop on covers for your hot rims, pop em off for shows etc. Covered up, you would have peace of mind that they wouldn't be a vandalism target too. I think those deely bobber antennae would look really good on YOUR dakota! :)

Message: Some tires have what they call rim protectors built into them. Toyo Proxies S/T are one such tire.

Message: Exactly Marks DQC...
I bought some BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KOs and they came with that "rim protection" feature...
Here is a link to their website to that specific tire.

Message: My Pirelli Scorpion Zeros (255/55/18) seem to have that feature. The outermost part of the rim tucks "into" the tire about 1/4"...... pretty much impossible to gnaw on the rim with an angry curb.
I doubt that a 55 series tire would qualify these days as "low profile" (sorry, Eric).

know of any place that makes them. Maybe I'll
keep looking and see if I can find them.

in nascar pit crews why they only take off
one bolt at time on the tires. why dont they make somthing to take all of them off at once? Wouldn't
that save time?

Message: sic,
They could also use single lug wheels. Like INDY, F1, CART, etc.
They don't because NASCAR rules says they can't. S is for "stock" and the official line is that the 5 lug design keep them closer to "stock" (phuulllllllleeeezzzzeeeeee)
