Message: Does anyone have a set of Westin step bars on their truck? If so, do they bolt up easy, are you satisfied with 'em. Advanced Auto has 'em for $219.99, and I'm thinking of getting them. Gimme some feed back. I'd get the black painted ones if I get 'em.

Message: I have the chrome Westins on my 2000. They came on the truck from the dealer (got em for free, so I couldn't pass that up), so I don't know how easy installation is, but by looking at how they are installed, it looks to be a snap. I'm very satisfied with them. Finish is still perfect after 2 years and they are very sturdy. As far as the black ones, I have heard some people complain about rock chipping, so the finish may not hold up as well on them.

Message: Very easy install. You just unbolt cab mounts, slide the brackets under, and put the bolts back in. I was very satisfied with them til I put the body lift on and they hung down so far. That's why I took 'em off again.
Other than that, they're great!

Message: Hello,i just installed a pair today. I got them on ebay real cheap. Had to polish them up a bit. Very easy to install. 15-30 minutes tops. Also i took off the middle bracket. This allowed me to have them look a bit farther from the vehicle, also makes it look better. But overall easy if you have a extra set of hands. You can post if you need any help, plus the westin website has lots of info. Since i got mine on ebay i had no installation directions.

Message: I had really considered getting Westin's... however they don't make their stainless steel verisons for the Club Cab Dakota (or the Regular Cab for that matter either)
What da hell are THEY thinkin'... I guess they think that people only buy the ones with 4 doors huh?
That sucks...

Message: helpful hints
1)i put black silicone around the tube that meets up to the mounting bracket.so no water gets inside the tube
2)buy mud flaps so they dont get pelted by rocks from the tires

Message: I put on my Westins step bars, thanks Ken for helping me out. Easy to install and looks great. Hey steve, mine came with a "retro" kit, which is nothing more than black gaskets that fit between the end of the bars and the mounts, to keep the bad things out of them. I ended up getting the black stainless steel ones, they have the lifetime warrenty.

Message: WHAT is a 'Westin' step bar??? My husband bought his pride and joy brand new in 2002. Unfortunately, compared to he and his father who are both 6'3", me and his mother are much shorter - in fact mom is under 5 ft.
For his June birthday and combined for fathers day, I want to purchase the step bars for his 4x4, 4 door dakota (is that xtra cab or what? Full back seat) You can certainly tell that I am not car wise. Anyway, he has mentioned the crome bar with black skid free steps at the door openings. I am getting everyone to pitch in and shopping early.
I need your help, what I just described, what is that kind called? What kind of price could I expect? He and his dad could easily install, so that cost will be nil. Can someone out there help this poor, pitiful dumb wife with choosing the right kind, or walking into a store KNOWING what she is saying? Thanks so much!
