Subject: 18" Tires!
IP: Logged

Message:
Everybody with 18" rims please post your tire sizes because I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out what size tires to get for the 18X9" rims that I just bought. If you've got a pic of the tires on your truck that would really be helpful too. Thanks a lot guys.

Adam

Some additional information would help us make suggestions.

What kind of truck do you own? Year? R/T, SLT, or Sport? RC, CC, or QC? 4x2 or 4x4?

Stock Height? Raised? Lowered?

What tires are you running now?

etc.

I've got a 1997 Dakota SLT CC 2WD with a 2/4 drop. Right now I've got 235/60-15 on my stock rims and I just bought my new rims (18X9).

Adam,

Thanks for the input. Your 235/60/15 tire is 26" in diameter. If you want to stay with the same diameter so your speedo will be accurate you can go with a 255/40/18.

From a fitment standpoint you can safely go to a 28" tire, 255/50/18.

I am currently running a 29" tire with a 2/3 drop. I do get some rubbing on big bumps. I am planning to go to 28" when I change tires. But the 29" option would be 255/55/18.

With the 28" or 29" tires your speedo will be reading low by 7.7% and 11.5%. Your truck will probably not accelerate as fast either.

And depending on the offset of the rim you can probably to go a wider tread tread on the tire, 26" - 275/35/18, 28" - 275/45/18, 29" - 275/50/18.

Hope this helps.

Do any of you running 18's at stock height have pics of your truck?? I've been craving some bigger rims, but don't really want to lower if it will still look OK.
Thanks in advance,
Matt

Sweet. It'll be at least another month before I can afford mine anyway so I'll just have to wait and see your pics. Thanks for the reply!
