So I'm washing my truck, and I hop up in the bed so's I can wash the top. My intelligent self grabs the hose and hauls it up over the side to spray off the top....NOT EVEN thinking about the hose making contact with the paint job on the side. So now I have small little scratches in a line about 3 feet on the side of my truck. As far as I know, it only scratched through some of the clearcoat....what can I do? I know a guy who can easily repair it for about $80, and I have the money....but I want to do it for less, if possible.

Get some rubbing compound and GENTLY rub it out by hand. Be carefull and take your time. If you over do it, you'll cut right down to the color coat.
