 Subject: Top Speed for Dakota Sport? I got 117mph

Does anyone out there have top speed for their Dakotas? I have a stock 3.9 engine with K&N filter and a dual Flowmaster exhaust and not even pushing it I did 117 mph the other day. Whats the max anyone has hit?

I got it a little over 110 on the 101 between San Jose and Santa Barbara. Steering felt 'mushy' at that speed, unsafe. Not sure I want to repeat at all. Still got response from touching the gaz, but I reached my limit.

Well... My limiter used to be 115 until I got my PCM... Iv made it up to around 120 just to say i barried the speedometer... 00 CC R/T

i have a 94 dakota w/ an fipk, 8.5 wires, advanced timing and an mopar performance PCM and i reached 127 till i got pulled over on my way to PA.

ouch, I got burned by a civic SI today, but I was
pullin way hard at about 95 until the limiter
kicked in @ 100..he was about 2 car lengths
back!

Hit 110 with 33's and that was it, wouldn't go any faster? Probably should not have been going that fast with 33's anyway...

oooooooh... Just now realized you said you were beating him until that crappy limiter kicked in... Sorry dude :( Well... When my R/T was stock... i tried to take a newer model Supra turbo... I pulled ahead of him only because he was off guard... then he took off and gained on me fast... He was going to get around me reguardless but my limiter kicked in at 115 :( that was before i had my PCM but i dont think with just the PCM it would have made a difference... That guy gave me a good spankin... But... ill have my shaker and a set of nitto's here before long and maybe a 180thermo, which there is no excuse for me not having one already, so ill have to travel that stretch of I-70 again someday and hope i run into him so i can attempt to return the favor.

As for the Rev limiter i have hit numerous times on my 92 as for Topspeed I know this much it is over 131 mph in my 92 me and the wifey did a topspeed run against each other Her Accord VS my Dakota she was faster from 70 to 100 but after that I came on strong and passed her at 131 the Hondas speed Limiter kicked in and she was suprised to see me keep pulling away got me scared as for i didnt know how fast she was until that day.

my v6 dakota has nothing but dual exhaust and i got clocked by a cop at 134 so i guess you guys cant drive it is a 5 speed and i can chirp it in 4th gear

I hit 110 the other day 2002 CC 4.7L 3.55's 5-speed. I was only in fourth gear and at 4K RPMs. Had to slow down due to traffic, did not hit the speed limiter. The truck is still completely stock

I had my 2000 sotck 3.9 V6 up to 120 before the Gov. Kicked in. i know i was going 120 cause i had a cop pull me over and shake my hand. he also owned a 2000 Dak and was proud to see how fast it could go Stock.

i have a 93 v6 dak with a few mods including v8 tb, 1:7 rr, gibson cat back, mopar pcm, jba headers, 3" open k&n, and it will pull hard up to 115. thats as fast as i have gone in it but i have no doubt it will burry the spedo at 125.

The speedo's must have went to 125 mph back in 93... Mine only reads 120 :^( Then after that i guess they expect you to guess. hehe.

Raced a mustang gt vert couple of weeks ago. The stang had 4 chics in it soo ...... I had to go big or go home! My buddie said the spedo was nailed at 120 easy but weaving in and out of traffic I really couldn't get a good top speed. I got a 318, ram hood, reprogramed pcm, duel glasspacks, free flow cat. I think before I try something silly like that again, better stiffin up the suspention a tad. It puts a new meaning to "Oh lord!" when the bump stearing kicks in at 100
Just too sexy......... women and 120+.......better than garderbelts and high heels. Too bad I had to smoke her!

... I thought I was a pretty unsafe driver, but now that I'm reading about people going 120 with traffic around them ??? Not too smart guys... I went to a salvage yard the other day because I was gonna get a few parts off of a wrecked R/T. Nearly brought a tear to my eye imagining what happened to the driver in that beautiful truck... it had hit a telephone pole... inbetween the door and the front fender there was a huge chunk of wood sitting there.... it held up well, but geezus... I know it's fun to race someone a bit at a red light because I do it too; but I know when I need to let my foot of the accelerator, dont get crazy... do it at the responsible place designated for it... the race track. I'm definitly not the type to criticize... but be realistic on what could happen...

I had my 96 3.9 sport with a dynomax muffler and k+n air filter pinned at 110 for about thirty seconds when the tach failed. Dealer replaced the whole instrument panel. Hard to say how fast i was going, but at that speed fourth and fifth gear were at about the same rpms. Why are chevy extreme drivers scared ???

Some people maybe getting the wrong idea here. Some of us are actually at tracks when we run these numbers or on a stretch of road very uninhabitted. I had mine up at National Trails Raceway, not on a side street.

Ummmm.... huh? To coin a phrase, I have to throw up a BS flag on this one too. A 6cyl chirping in fourth? I don't know if even Bernd can say that..... and he's probably the most modified 6cyl Dak I have heard of. And dual exhaust? Prolly losing power on that one, if not I wouldn't expect more tha 5-7 hp and 8-12 lb.-ft. of torque better than stock. So a 5spd, even with 3.92's and some teeny tiny tires (lo-pro 14's??)to raise the final ratio at the wheels way high I don't think could even do that. I just don't see it happening! If he says it did, maybe it did... but doubtful.

Oh yea...well I was at 192mph in my 2.5 auto cc the other day but I had to let off of it due to traffic! And with NO mods. ... all stock!
One day you 6and8 guys will learn not to mess with the power and performance of us 4bangers!
BTW it`ll chirp `em when it goes into overdrive...so there

My trucks drag limited top speed was 105. That was with the custom air intake, functional cat, and no muffler. Should still be about the same.
'95 Sport 2.5L 5 Speed
Custom air intake, gutted cat, Flow 40, 2/3 drop
11.792 @ 55.9 mph in the 1/8

I'm reaally surprized at all the top speeds here.
I did it once just to see how fast I could go...
I have a 2002 CC w/ 3.9 V6 and 3.92 and at the time I was All stock. { now I have a Cold air intake}
And the Highest I could get it was 90mph
the pedal was pined and it just wouldn't go.
Could there be something wrong????
