Maybe its those tires they arent stock.You can lose alot of mph with those heavier tires.

The fastest i have been in my 2001 2.5L Dakota RC is 105mph then I seen headlights and slowed down. But it didnt seem like it wanted to go any faster.Mine has the stock 215/75/r15s on it.

i don't know what the hell is wrong with my 1998 club cab 3.9L. i bought it used & bone stock at the time(i think) and i've heard about the other 3.9's with 5 speeds hitting a certin rev point and it basicly makes the driver shift cuase it won't rev any higher. my dak for some reason will let me red line it from first gear to third gear. wtf is up with that? trust me i'm not complaining. not only that when i was going to texas from north carolina i had a avg speed of 120-125 (i had it peged for the most parts the other times it was sitting at 120) through mississippi. and i've heard from other owners that the gov kicks in around 90mph or so. i'm sorry if it sounds like i'm braging. take it from me if my boss ever found out that i did this i wound lose my job as a COP. the only reason why i was driving like that was becuase my mother was dieing at the time and i couldn't aford a plane ticket. i know that does not justified my actions as it will / have not for others.

I'v taken it to 5k rpm's in 4th in my 4.7 auto. I don't know what speed that comes out to be, but I'd guess 125-130.

I was driving my brothers 94 dak club cab in the summer on the way to work and I wanted to test it. It's pretty beat with 167,000K miles on it but oh well. It's the v-8 model and I got it up to about 125mph then i heard a big noise so i slowed down. I'm getting a 5.9L dak soon in april or may this year.

'99 Dakota Sport 4x4 3.9L V6 AUTO got mine going about 115 MPH little more I think but didn't want to go much faster because traffic was picking up fast. She has no mods just a, "3ARacing" Tailpipe Tip. Sounds good at about 5400 RPM's in passing gear, redlined!!

just after i bought my 01 3.9l sport i raced a chevy s-10 on a streight road and got my dak up to 120 no govner kicked in or anything and i beat the s-10! gotta say that was nice... my dak was stock at the time... cant wait to see what it will do now that i have a intake, throttle body spacer, exhaust and chip.

i have a 3.9 with 5 speed and hit 117 in 4th gear. you can always get a hypertech programmer and remove the rev limiter
