Subject: flares on 4X2?
IP: Logged

Message:

I have a 2000 4X2 SLT CC with 2 tone paint -- garnet on top with grey under, 15X8 rims and 255/65/15 tires. Wanted to add fender flares to match the grey. Local dealers have them for $235, but I'm still working to find lower prices.

My question is: has anyone else done this on a 4X2? How does it look? I don't want the truck to look too wide or too low to the ground. I don't think there's a reliable way to raise the 2000. Any ideas? Thanks!

You might want to check out bushwackers street flares. Are a little bit narrower than the factory ones.

Steve - Check out the viewer's rides section. There's a lot of 4x2's with the flares.

Thanks. I've checked the viewers rides section, but I haven't a 4X2 with flares that are a different color than the body of the truck. The R/Ts and Sport models with same-color flares look great!

I had looked at thee Bushwacker street flares, but they're so expensive. $309 for the flares plus the cost of painting . . . I don't understand why the OEM flares are so much less.

I think that someone may be "swizzlin' your stick"... aftermarket flares ought not to cost anywhere NEAR $300.00.

When I ordered my 2WD truck, I added (as an accessory) the color-matched flares, and I couldn't be happier. I have the 255/65/16's, and they look XLNT!

Factor into your decision the notion that who better to match the paint than the DC dealer.

Where is all of this leading?

BUY THE FACTORY FLARES... YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID!

I have already figured that it's the factory flares or nothing based on the price. Now just need to find them for around $200, which I think is possible based on some other posts around here.

Does anyone know anything about the Xenon or Stillen flares? I need flares that are a little wider than factory.

I tried chris at dakotausa, and was quoted 230$ which really isn't much savings at all.

Marc, I recently got light driftwood colored flares for my truck for $150 at Dodge World in Clifton Park, NY. A lot of the colors are on sale right now at the dealers -- on sale from D/C. $120 is a great deal -- normally they are $255.
