Subject: Autoventshade Ventvisors
IP: Logged

Message:
I recently bought some ventvisors for my '01 CC dakota - They don't fit very well at all! The leading edge right above the mirror cap won't let the ventvisor sit on the frame of the window. I called autoventshade and they said that they don't fit as well because of the heated mirrors that are now available - even though they still say that they will fit a 2001 model! Has anyone else had this problem? They will probably be going back to the store!

Get the Weather-flectors from McNeil. No tape, easy install and they look like they came from the Mopar factory when installed on your Dak. Here's a link: http://www.macneil.com/store/prodsearch.asp?item_group_id=4

I agree with that. The WeatherTechs are the best. My boss's 00 QC Dakota looks sharp. I also have them on my wife's 96 Breeze. They work good here in S. Fla. 95 CC Sport V6

Hey Kevin did you notice any extra wind noise after you put the Ventvisors on ?

Mine are terrible I been living with them for about 4 mo. now but I'm going to look into the Weather-flectors BlackDak mentioned.

Dakotadan,

I have the ventvisors on my 02 QC and they sure are loud at highway speeds. I went on an ice fishing trip this past weekend and we had about a 40mile/hr cross wind on the highway, it sounded like my truck was a 747 with the windows cracked open.

Good i thought i was the only one that had this problem i put the ventvisors on the ones that stick on to your body right on top of the window they look very good because i got them painted the same color but at high speeds it seems the make more noise then deflect.

Well I just ordered a set of Weather-flectors from MacNeil's web site, Thanks for the info BlackDak & Steve, they are about twice the price of VentVisors but they do look a lot better (hope they are quieter)

Kevin I noticed the same thing you did about them not mounting to the mirror, my wife has a Malibu and they run all the way down and mount to the mirror, no wind noise with them so I got a set for my DAK , like dk says almost sounds like a 747 with windows cracked !

No wind noise at all with these.
Just be very careful installing in the winter because plastic becomes brittle. Install in a warm garage if possible. These pieces are a very tight fit. They mold themselves to the window channel perfectly. Just follow their directions and you should be ok.

You said no tape! How do they mount? No screws I hope :( ...kind of a friction fit around the window frame and/or weather seal ?

Yeah Dan, you hit the nail on the head, no screws, real easy install like kevster said. All you gotta do is get the front corner in place, then the back corner, and the piece will be bowed out in the middle. Very carefully work it into the channel from front to rear. But like I said be real careful with that bow in the plastic in the winter, do the install in a heated garage if possible or on a warmer day. Plastic gets real brittle, it's temp sensitive, that's why its not good to use plastic for cold air intake tubes. I used to do custom injection molding before I became a truck driver.(read prince to pauper, LOL)
If you want I'll take some close up pics tomorrow and e-mail them to you.

Yeah... if I had it to do all over again, I wouldn't buy the Autoshade Ventvisor version either...

However something funny comes to mind. I saw another Gen III Dak runnin' around and it had Ventvisors that tucked under the mirror...

I was like... what the hell? How did he do that?

Is there another version that fits on our Daks or something?

Got My WeatherTech Shades today, Put my truck in the garage to warm up after I got home from work, then after supper it took about 15 min. to pop them in literally. Went out for a test drive, run it up to 80 no wind noise from them.

Thanks to BlackDak02 for the photos and the WD40 tip (it worked) and the others for their info, I only wish I had found this web site before I bought the AutoVentShades :(

I just looked at the "Truck Stuff USA" website and they only list the WeatherFlectors for 00 and up quad cabs. Anyone know if these will work on a 02 club cab? I would think the front doors on the club would be the same as the quads. BTW I was going to by the Ventshade visors that stick on until I saw all the complaints about them on here, thanks guys. I have them on my Ram now and haven't had any problems with them.

The quad cab versions will not fit a club cab. The quad cab's front doors are shorter than the club's.

I found out why my first set of autoventshade ventvisors didn't fit worth a damn. They made two different moldings with the same part number. I got the first molding that didn't fit on my '01. The new molding fits great! - even though they aren't as nice as the ones that don't use tape.

Weathertech install was a breeze...only 2 minutes each visor...and these things are a hell of a lot better than Ventvisors. They fit in the window channel and make less wind noise.

Installed and love em..

Still selling a set of Auto ventvisors (4 pieces)...brand-new and sealed...just shipped from the factory. Fits 00-02 Dakota Quad Cab

Holler if ya want em.

I was at Autozone yesterday and seen a pair of Ventvisors noticed they changed the ends near the mirror, maybe they were getting tired of hearing from us!

The new ones they sent me are definately different from the ones I bought initially. They are tapered at the ends (better for teh mirror molding), but I am quite pleased with the weathertechs...easy install, good quality...works well, looks nice...what else can I say.
