I need to know if 5 inches of backspacing is acceptable on an 18X8 or 9 wheel. Would that stick the tire outside of the wheel well? I know nothing about all of these measurements. Of course the salesman said they wouldn't, but I need some opinions. They are the Boss 303's. Here is a link. http://www.bossmotorsport.com/303.htm
Of course the ones I am considering are chrome. Any info would be appreciated.

By reading that thread it makes me think that 5 inches of backspacing isn't enough and the wheels will stick out too far. Am I understanding this correctly? I mean I am not going to bag mine or anything. Does anyone know the backspacing of the stock 16" wheels? Any info is again appreciated. This is a lot of money to invest to have it not look right.

i got a 99 dakota with 18 inch wheels.
they are 18x7 with 5.5 inch backspacing
with 215/40, 18 tires. they barely tuck into the fenderwell. brother has y2k dakota with 18x8's with 5 3/8 inch backspacin (stock) with 255/55, 18 tires. they stick about 1 1/2 inches out of fenderwells. hope this helps a little.

I was going to purchase a set of 18x8 wheels with 5 1/2" of BS. Yes they WILL stick out past the fenderlip. Im not sure about the 9s. Hit up "KOTAON20s". He helped me out alot when I asked him some wheel backspacing questions. Hope this helps you out.

I appreciate all of the help. I don't want the tires to stick out so far. Would they go past some fender flares? I may just settle with the RT rims.

im a us marine stationed in iraq right now. i have an 07 dodge dakota stock. im wantin to buy rims while im out here so they will be waitin when i get back. im lookin at some 18x9 with 255's on them. just wonderin if they will fit in the wheel wells without any kind of lift. i dont care about them stickin out to far cause i like that look but i want to make sure they will fit with out mods. thanks for the help
