Subject: Another Air Dam Questions??
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a '01 RC SLT. I do not like the ugly grey plastic facia that Dodge put on the truck but I do like the chrome bumper. What do I need to order that is paintable, has great styling and will continue to show off my chrome bumper and existing fog lamps. I get so confused between bumper covers, light pockets, valences, etc.

Thanks!

Either going to have to prepare the one you have and paint it(long process). By a sport lower valance(non textured- painted) and switch them or look for a below the bumper front cover I think Xenon may have one call any of the major distributors and ask.

Xenon has one, part # 5841. 5841BC is the bumper cover. That's the only one I've found.

I'm gonna have my (hideous grey) lower bumpers - front AND rear - painted at the Dodge dealer's paint shop next week.

The paint shop claims (and I intend to get this in print BEFORE the $$$ changes hands) that it will carry the same warranty as the truck itself, so...

I'll post a topic on the results when it's done.
I'm thinking that painting the textured surfaces might be a pain in the ass, but hey - they're saying "warranty", right?

I just can't see buying entire new lower bumpers for a brand-new truck.

We'll see...

Ok Ive painted the textured surfaces on my dodge dakota...let me tell you if they are just gonna prima nc color them you ARE still gonna have texture! It took 2 coats of filler primer, then a sand, then another coat, then a another sand before I could shoot color and clear to get the damn texture to go away. Let me know what they are gonna charge you for it.

Thanks for the inputs. I was going to have mine painted but all of the body shops around here said they'd paint it for around $350 and no warranty because the paint would chip, crack and fall off in a year or two.....

I'll take a look at the Xenon.

Jonas - looking forward to group buys. Keep on Truckin' (hee hee)
