Subject: refinishing RT rims IP: Logged
Message: I have salvaged RT rims from a truck fire. They're in decent shape, some yellow and black stains though. I was wondering what the best and cheapest method to refinish them would be.

Message: You could strip the paint and polish them. It would be almost as shiney as chrome and you can do it yourself with a little elbow grease. If you do that go ahead and spend the money to have them clear powdercoated afterwards. Polished wheels are hell to keep clean. It is cheap to do and looks real good when finished. The only reason you don't see it more is because it is time consuming.

Message: I have the R/T rims I thought about stripping them and polishing them. One problem is what to use to take off the paint. Second is exactly how to go about polishing them. Where to get them powder-coated(st. louis area) How much, ball park, to have the coating done? And what about the center caps, arnt they plastic just apinted to match, or is it the same metal underneath the plastic? If anyone knows please reply?
