Message: I've read that billet aluminum wheels gives you a shine as brilliant as chrome, but will not chip or flake over time... so why don't people use this more than chrome itself?
Just wondering because I was looking at buying wheels from Billet Specialties and was wondering if there was something I was missing here.

Message: I did a lot of asking and looking at various rims before I decided on mine and I can tell you that billet does not have as brillinat nor deep as shine as chrome. Chrome definitely kicks billet's arse in this department.
Also, if you want to maintain what shine there is on billet wheels, prepare to dedicate quite a bit of time polishing them. I have heard anywhere to a couple times a month to once a month at about 45 mins. per rim.
If the chrome wheel is good quality, all you have to do is wax it once in a while with chrome wax and wash it like you would anything else. If you live where they use road salt, you shouldn't run the chrome rims (nor the billet) as the salt will attack the finish.

Message: Thanks for the info, Chuck. After some searching, I think I'm going to go with the KMC Venoms. Problem now is, I don't know if I should go with the 17x8 or 18x8.5, heh.

Personal opinion here, but I think 18" rims look a lot better than 17". I know it's hard to see that 1" difference, but all the Daks I've seen with 18" rims look so much better than the ones with 17" (not to start a flame war).
You probably saw it already, but check out vondutch's post at www.dodgedakotas.com/boards/style/637.html His 18" rims look great! I can't wait to get my 18" rims on in the spring.
One thing to consider with 18" rims is that there are fewer tire choices for them. It seems that 17" tires are a dime a dozen, but there are only a couple manufacturers that make 18" tires that are comparable in size to the stockers.
I like the looks of the Venoms. I don't know what kind of prices you were looking at for them, but www.salesco.com is currently having a sale on them.

Message: Thanks man! You saved me a bundle. The ones I were looking at were being sold at $380 each. Salesco has them for $330. Thanks for the heads up.
