Subject: Dome Light Dimming IP: Logged
Message: In my fathers 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, when you turn over the engine the dome light dimms slowly until its completely off. This must be a simple cuircuit that when the usual domelight reciveves no power it starts the dimming process, but is there a chip/wiring hanress that i can get for this effect? I love it and wish i had it in my Dak

I know what you're talking about as our '02 Ram has the same feature. Way cool ;-) Unfortunately I don't have any information about it as I'm still waiting to find a FSM.

Message: My 2002 has that feature, very cool! I'm sure it can't be that hard to duplicate the wiring or relay. The service dept. will probably tell you what the part is.

Message: I know how to do it!!! You just need to wire in a capacitor to the main power wire (pink one in the overhead on the 2001, I think). I'm not sure of the rating you'd need, but radio shack or a good electronics store might be able to help you find it. Its easy to do, costs maybe $2.00, and it doesn't take long.
