Message: What is the best way to keep black looking good? It just seems that when ever i wash it, after it dries it still seems to have a film on it. What wax is best, best way to apply it? Can i keep it looking good?
Thanks everyone!

Message: carnuba wax will give it the wet look because it has silicone in it the best way to get the film off is to spend some cash and invest in a buffer.

Message: I've got a black dak and it does require a little (alot) extra work to make it look good.
First of all - you can forget about the "coin operated" or the "touchless" car washes - If you want to make your truck shine.
Black finishes have to be washed with a mit, soft brush or rag to remove all road film. It's best to use a good car wash product like "turtle wax", "armor all", etc.
Be careful of the "foaming brushes" at the coin operated car washes - they will scratch your finish if they are not soft or if they are dirty.
You can't wash a vehicle (particullary a black one) in the sun. You will have all kinds of water spots. Be sure to keep all surfaces wet during the wash phase.
You must use clean towels for drying. Do not re-use dirty towels to dry your truck.
My wife used to use a fabric softner (like Downey) on all of our clothes including the towels I used to dry my truck. After seeing the "smears" that fabric softners created on my black truck, we quit using fabric softners all together. After all, if the fabric softners left a "greasy residue" on your paint job, it must also leave a residue on your hair and body. OOPS - Sorry if I got off topic....
Dry glass first. Then the chrome, hood, sides and (last) the top.
As far as wax goes, I think any good wax is ok. I have used Mothers, Meguires, etc. The problem with black paint is that any wax that gets into cracks and crevices turns white and is very visible. I have tried the Turtle Wax black colored polish. It doesn't show as bad in the cracks. However, I don't think it is as good as other waxes. When I wax my truck, I try to be careful to not get any on rubbber or plastic parts. I'm also careful to not get wax into the cracks and crevices. After I buff off the wax with clean cotton towels, I use a soft bristle paint brush to "scrub" the wax out of nooks and cranies.
I have a "California Duster" to remove all lint and "wax dust" after final detailing.
It all depends on how you want your ride to look. When I'm going to go cruising on the main drag, I get mine looking show room spiffy.
