Subject: Question? IP: Logged
Message: This ground effect idea is not easy! Here's the only idea I've got left... Doing a custom body mod. and making the ground effects for the new Dakotas (97 and up), fit mine (96)? Has any one tried this or even thought of it? The only thing I found major so far is the body goes out, not in, down past the molding... I don't think there is a length difference between the two? haven't measured yet
let me know if you have any ideas. thanks Drew

Message: What is it with some people and wanting to make late model parts fit their 2nd gens? I have a 2nd gen, just be happy with it! Trying to install 3rd gen ground effects wouldn't be worth your trouble, if you want that look that bad then buy a 3rd gen, it won't look good on the 2nd gen because it was made for a 3rd gen! Just go to razzi.com and get some 2nd gen ground effects, they look good too.

Message: Listen buddy... Do you really think that I would waste the time making this work, if they made ground effects for my truck? If you can find side skirts for a 1996 Dakota Extended cab, short box, you let me know..... There is no such thing!
So the only thing I can do is make something else work. Let me know what you find! :)

Message: Drew-
I've actually been pondering this idea myself. I have gone around measuring pretty much any bumper i can find that has a lot of airdams, etc for it. If you find anything please let me know.
And to BlackDak....why should we leave well enough alone? If we all just gave up when things looked hard and dealt with parts we don't like then this would be a pretty dull sport. I suppose now you'll tell me that it would be impossible to fit a 440 in my gen2. Oh wait, I did.

Message: Not impossible, there's a guy who does has a 426 hemi in one. I'm not trying to criticize. Think about it though, it's not worth the trouble. And I gaurantee that someone does make ground effects for the cc, there is someone in my area with a white one and it has them. I'll try and find out.

Message: Nope, ("Ground Effects")!!!.... I'm not looking for running boards. Gound effects don't have the step in them...They also don't run all the way up the wheel wells. Keep me postesd if you find side skirts. (not step, and no fender flares) Thanks :)

Message: Don't get mad?!, all that I'm saying is if you think that they're so easy to find... please do! But don't go half ass.. and find something else.
I'm not hard to please, but when someone wants something why settle for less? That's ok though... I will do it my self! Thanks for trying...(seriously)

Message: I've been looking for a body kit for a 96 dak for a while and the only idea i have is to just find a body kit that is the same length and custom fit it. 96 dakotas arent exactly curvy so it would be pretty easy to custom fit one.
