Subject: Custom center console IP: Logged
Message: Ok here's my dilema. I have an 04 dakota with no center console. I've looked on ebay to find one and there are many. However, I have arm rests that I want to keep so I don't have a big piece of metal sticking out of my seat. I'd like to fiberglass a template to the carpet, but I don't my carpet to look like sh!t after words. Does anyone have some good ideas? Also, I'm pretty sure there are bolt holes under my carpet that I can take advantge of, so if anyone could help me out with that(size of bolts and location) it would be much appriciated.
Thanks in advance

Message: Well you could make what you wanted out of fiberglass, in order to not "screw up the carpet" lay down trash bags(cut so there fold out completly) and tape em down. Then use fiberglass on the bottom to make a sorta of "base", use cardboard to make a rough shape, or even foam(far better), then once you have a nice one.. fiberglass that. etc etc
Thats a very *rough* course though lol

Message: Thanks for the tip. I've used fiberglass before to repair stuff(surf boards, spas), but never to actually make somnething.
When you say foam are talking about the type that comes in big blocks that are used for packing? Or some type of spray foam? I take it I will be "carving" the foam.
Thanks
