Subject: '97 wheels on pre '96 IP: Logged
Message: I am starting a new project on a 1994 Dakota V8 extended cab 4x4. The stock wheels are a bit boring and I would like to move up into the late 90's, 2000 type six lug wheel. I understand the bolt pattern is the same but some mod are required. Can someone tell what needs down? Spacer? Grinding clearance on the calipers? Some how people are getting hese things on thier trucks, maybe one of you can tell me how. Thanks.

Message: Ive got them one my truck. A little bit of grinding and you can get them on. On my 96 and didnt have to grind any of the caliper bolt but your 94 might have different brakes. If you do hae to grind it, its is not much like 1/8 inch. I did have to grind part of the lip off the upper control arm to get them on. Took off about 1/8 inch but again yours is a 4X4 so you might not have to grind at all. I had to cut about 1/4 off the spindle to put the center caps on. But only 2WD's have the one piece hub/rotor so you should not have to do that.
Check out my site for some pics.

Message: I have a lot to consider before running out and purchasing wheels.
The truck is going through a lot of changes from its stock appearance right now. Lifted, chopped top and custom paint just to name a few.
Just wanted to start bargain shopping for wheels in case I stay with a stock look with the bigger tires.
Thanks for the reply
