has anyone ever tried instead of buying a shaker hood to just cut a hole in their stock hood and put the aftermarket scoop like the shaker has? i know it wouldn't shake, but wouldn't it still have the same look and purpose??

i admire your want to save some coin, but a project like that would take a lot of fabrication to make it look authentic and good. more than likely more than the cost of the set-up youre trying to clone.
i hate to say it, but they DO make a stick on scoop that resembles the shaker if youve had a few bottles of rum
