Subject: Gull Wing Tonno Cover IP: Logged
Message: I have not heard or read much about Dodge's gull wing tonno cover. Anyone out here read or hear about it and how good is it. I am looking for a cover, preferable hard that paint matches for a 01 QC. I like the gull wing idea, but weather infiltration seems like a problem. Any thoughts on the solid ones and how they are to open and close on the 5.3ft bed.
Thanks

Message: I have an ARE on my 01 QC. Excellent fit and works good. Seals, locks and opens and closes easily. I didn't like the gull wing idea, not that lazy that I couldn't walk behind the truck, but the quality is there. I liked the ARE over the LEER, I saw one Leer on a GMC and it fit really funny at the front of the bed.

Message: Personally I have the best cover to be a steel one. The GEM GT Classic. It sits flush and seals well. Haven't has one leak since it was installed 4 years ago.

Message: For those who use hard tonno: What do you have in the bed, bedliner, bed mat or sth else to prevent sliding?

Message: I just had an ARE fiberglass tonneau put on my 2001 Club Cab. It fits excellent, it also has the center "u-shaped" design from the hood of the dakota in it. It rained pretty hard this morning and it came through with no problems. This weekend I bought a piece of carpet at the local hardware store and cut it so it fits perfectly in the back to protect the bed. Highly recommend the ARE, I got mine for $690 painted and installed. Their website is www.4are.com
