 Subject: OMG $800.00 2 Scoops Painted & Attached?

OMG I went to a Body Shop Yesterday to find out how much it would cost to have 2 already owned Non Functional Hood Scoops attached and painted to my current Stock Hood and they Wanted $750.00-$800.00 to do it.
OMG,... Is this really the going price to have something like this done?
Has anyone gone the whole way to do this?
There is No Way I'm going to use 3M tape to stick these to My Hood. I want them to look like there suppose to be there and not like the ones you see where theres a Lip and you can tell that their just stuck there with that double sided tape..
Any thoughts on this subject??

Oh,.. The Scoops arnt anything special either...
I actually dont have em yet but they look just like the ones that are already on some of the Dakota's and Ram's. The ones with the Non Working Dual Scoops on them.

I had a Cervini's SS hood preped and painted, along with a Super Bee stripe painted for 980.00. They just did the stripe, the Super Bee is a sticker. You can check it out at http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2040646
800.00 seems pretty steep for just 2 scoops.

Where did you get the sticker? How much. I have a black quad cab that is 2 toned like yours and was thinking of doing the same thing w/ the stripe. Now that I've seen it I like it. I'd have to remove the 4x4 stickers 1st, but the stripe would go right over where the stickers were so I don't think there would be any shadow problems from the stickers.

I got them off of e-bay. I actually got them with the stripes. After 2 years in the California sun, they were starting to peal on the top of the bed, so I had the vinyl(3M 7 year vinyl!?) strips removed and painted on. I can't remember who was selling them, but I'm sure I have the receipt somewhere at home. He sold them in something like 20 different colors. And you can get just the Super Bee circle from him. But I didn't like the brightness of the yellow Bee, so I replaced them with one's I got from Year One. You can also get them off of e-bay.

my advice to you dakotajimbo is just to buy a
hood with the real twin scoops and paint
it...will cost the same and be a hell of a lot
better.stylinconcepts.com has the hood your
looking for..im actully getting for mine

Oh man "angel.." you got my hope all up and stuff... I went to http://www.stylinconcepts.com/parts.aspx?partfamilyid=531&inid=HP0305D and they dont have a hood for my 2005 Dakota. Bummer..
Man i wish i could find parts for my 2005. It really really blows waiting for the after market to catch up.
Please if anyone does find a hood for the 2005 dakota "Shaker Hood" if possible,.. Please let me know.
But thanks for the link, i added it to my favorites.

DakotaSuperBe, I found a guy on ebay w/ the stickers. The ones listed are black but it says they come in diff colors. Did the color of the stripes match your silver you already had?

LOL,.. Paying the Truck off. heh thats what time is for.
I'm in the here and now.
Beside I never said I was going to pay them to add 2 scoops to my hood. I just going to wait until Good Hoods or someone comes out with one for my year dakota for the same price or there about.
Hell a few more hundred dollars and I could get a shaker hood which is what I think i'm going to do once it's released.

Dude--Copterfixer-- I also just bought my truck, a 2000 Dakota, with Army money. I'm a Chinook mechanic in the national guard. How cool is that? And to whoever wrote HELLO?, I am 21 -- but I'm also married and have my truck completely paid off without any of dad's money, thanks. :)
What I really wanted to ask is this:
I just bought my truck earlier this year and it came with the fake twin scoop intakes that actually WERE stuck on with double-sided tape. Can anybody direct me to a good place to find the functional version? A buddy of mine is trying to talk me into cutting a hole in the hood under the fake ones to make them functional, but they're made of cheap-looking plastic and already coming up away from their sticky tape, so I think I'm better off just getting a new hood. Where do they come from and how much do they run?

You bought a used '00 with someone else's "sticky tape mods" to the hood. No harm there.
DO NOT let your buddy talk you into "cutting holes to make them functional". You are right, you will be better off with a new hood.
The question is, what's wrong with the old hood?
A new hood will run anywhere from 500 - 1000 or more depending on what you are looking for.
And being 21, in the Army, and married, do you really need to spend half a paycheck on a hood?
Just an observation.
And my comments earlier are and were directed at the people that I described. If it doesn't include you, then why do you find offense to it?

You didn't at all offend me; I just found your comment funny and wanted to stick up for younger folks.
My Dakota doesn't NEED a new hood -- I just live at about 9,000 ft here in the mountains and I often wish I could give my poor engine a little more air. Just wondering what the cost estimate would be. Thanks. You're right, that's a bit more than I need to spend on toys right now. :)
