i have the 5 spoke wheels on my 93 dak and i will be painting them black with clear coat. The paint is dupont. How good will this hold up. Alot of scratches and dings?

Surface prep is the key. If you do a spotless prep, sand with 600 grit paper, and let dry for a couple of days between light coats, it will be pretty durable. You'll still end up with a few small scratches and chips here and there, though. Spray on a color coat that's just enough to cover the surface, and no more. Then build up the coating with 3-4 coats of clear. Then all your minor scratches and chips will be in the clear coat, and almost invisible.

If you want a tougher coating, you should consider powdercoat. Of course, meticulous surface is important there, too.

thats what i wanted to do with my rims but i think it will
cost around 5 or 6 hundred dollers so i would rather
save double that and get nice ones..

well i have leftover black and red because i painted my brothers semi with those colors. my truck is black and all my acessories r black. the rollbar is and the pushbar and my interior. so i plan on painting the truck black again with red flames and i wanted to paint the rims red and black. so it basically cost me nothing to do
