Subject: Viperizing R/T, rim question.. IP: Logged
Message: Hey, I'm getting ready to add a few viper parts, got a set of seats from a viper, and a set of rims. the rims are the same diameter, but I think they're a different backspacing. the fronts are 17X10, and the rears are 17X13, they are the three spoke viper rims, from a 1995. would I need to use spacer plates to get them to fit right? GOD I hate to have to use spacers, but if its my only option, I'll do it.

Message: The only way to use viper wheels on the dakotas is to use all front wheels. That is if you do not want to use spacers. If you want the rear viper wheels to fit you will have to relocate the leafs and shocks. Just remember new tires for those wheels are 300 dollars a piece. I have only seen this done on one truck before and that is what the owner told me.

Message: yeah. I'm not afraid of using spacers, or hacking into my R/T, just wondering what it'll take to force em into place... hmm. relocate springs? looks like I'll need to buy a bigger hammer! ahhh... and I LOVe the smell of fresh acetalyne in the morning!! I think it'll look bad as heell with the 13's on the rear, I think I'll do it. I'll be getting the rims soon, I'll smack on into place and see what I have to shift around... I'll post back after I check it out, to add for anyone else contemplating this in the future..

Message: I gotta be honest. Those three spoke wheels are awful looking. It'd be cool to have Viper wheels on a dak, but why those?

Message: I would not suggest using spacers on any thing unless you want to ride like crap, turn like crap, and replace your wheel bearing every 1000 miles. Plus you look like a mexican and every time you throw dirt it all goes on your truck. Just trying to help you out. Dont want you too waste money and just having it worse than before

Message: yeah, if I can avoid the spacers I will, but if it centers the rim in the wheel well, then I'll have to do it... and no, I dont friggin want em hanging out of the wheel well. IF they don't look right, I'll just sell em off.
